Questions about initial server setup Print

Can please explain what is meant by : "Initial security lock down - this is conducted on all dedicated servers so that no new EDT dedicated server is put into production without passing a rigorous security audit. However, EDT will not be responsible for any problems a security lock down causes for third party applications. Customers must specifically request that a security lock-down not occur PRIOR to installation if there are concerns on how the security lock-down will affect 3 rd party products."

The Security Lockdown simply involves installing all available Windows update patches and service packs, SQL Server patches and service packs, and configuring the operating system and IIS settings as per the Microsoft-Recommended best practices
- the recommendations are considered to be "the ideal way", under normal circumstances, to configure a server as defined by Microsoft's experts. we've never known the initial lockdown to present any issues for any users, in the past, but we can deploy our standard image to your server, and work with you to make any adjustments that may be necessary . We simply want to provide our clients with a server that has he optimum configuration and best performance, in order to help insure the success of your business.
